MUSIC
I started performing in the 1970s around the folk clubs of North-West England, later becoming involved in numerous musical/theatrical projects in Nottingham and then London, where I developed a reputation as an original and distinctive singer-songwriter. Since relocating to the East Midlands in 2001, I've become well-known both as an acoustic musician and a promoter of roots music (see Kontra). Over 40 plus years, I've released several highly praised albums and been fortunate enough to share the stage with some fabulous musicians along the way, including Bert Jansch, Paul Lamb, The Pretty Things, The Zombies, Wishbone Ash and many others.

“Kev Buxton is a regular booking at my events, a quality musician who writes excellent songs, mixes them with crowd-pleasing covers, and is a wonderful harmonica player and storyteller into the bargain. Whenever he walks on stage you immediately know you're in for a good time. A great performer and a class act.” (Ian Joule, promoter & venue owner)
KONTRA BAND
A revival of my first and most enjoyable Northants band of 20 years ago, featuring myself along with excellent folk/blues guitarist, Adam de Santis and fiddle/mandolin maestro, Robin Hillman. We play an entertaining mix of original songs old and new, as well as music from various folk roots traditions.
We're currently working on a new show called Ballads & Blues, Devils & Booze, which we're planning to tour from June 2026.
